The High place Commissioned for the Human rights of United Nations puts at the disposal of the NGO's tools On Line


The office of the High place Commissioned for the Human Rights of United Nations has put at the disposal of the organizations a guide for the agents of the civil society who work with this program of the International organization. The guide explains how the diverse mandates and the mechanisms of the human rights of United Nations work, and how the members of such of civil society, as organisations defenders of the human rights, the not governmental organizations and the academic institutions, can interact with them an as efficient as possible way.

The Discharge Commissioned for the Human Rights, Navi Pillay wrote in the prologue of this edition that "Today, the points of view of the civil society, the practical knowledge and the scolarships are crucial for the movement of the human rights like it have been always in the search of the justice and the equality for all.The manual includes meetings of the Council of the Human Rights, the bodies of the agreement, the special procedures, the universal mechanism of the periodic review and the different procedures of complaint.

Every chapter is accessible as independent reference in mechanisms or specific mandates, and provides points of entry for different members of the civil society and examples of good practices in their initiatives and contributions. The manual also promotes the collaboration between the civil society and the Commissioned High place. In addition, it does an introduction to the role and the activities of the organism, their publications, materials of consultation, scolarships and programs of training, financing and grants.

"It is my hope that this manual will be used to facilitate the comprehension of the agents of the civil society on and in the access to the system of the human rights of the United Nations. It is a modest but significant resource in our common effort for doing from the respect to the human rights, to the dignity and the equality a universal reality", said Pillay. Now the manual it’s available in English, but soon will be available in Arabic, Russian, Spanish and French. You can also ask for it in publications@ohchr.org.
