This book we present here is a useful guide to develop that capacity. Its author, Professor Josep Lluís Cano, is a well known expert and a pioneer of Business Intelligence in Spain. He also teaches the Information Systems for NGOs module, as part of the Training Programme in "Leadership and Management of Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs)" at ESADE and La Caixa.
Xavier Mendoza, the author of the introduction, highlights some of the notable aspects of the book:
* Firstly it constitutes a complete introduction to the world of Business Intelligence, offering an overview that is constructed element by element in successive chapters.
* Secondly, the experiences of Spanish entrepreneurs, collected in the "case studies" section, eight in total, highlight the importance of organizational dynamics, a part of any Business Intelligence project. The structure of these different case studies, which follows a common outline, allows for a comparative analysis of the different solutions used and the organizational learning achieved as a result.
* Thirdly, Business Intelligence is an emerging area of Business Management, and is still experiencing development; up to now there were only a small number of publications written in Spanish aimed at business managers.
Finally, this is a book that has arrived at the right moment, and is particularly relevant for those who have to make decisions within a business context on a daily basis. The author, as well as taking part in the courses offered by ESADE, has an extensive CV and has worked with Fundació Arrels, the Catholic Scout Movement, Amnesty International, and the Fundació Adsis amongst others.
