Apart from those, there are obviously much more. Here you have a list of a few most useful:

USING DASHES (instead of double quotes)

e.g. While searching for John Smith instead of entering “John Smith” you can enter John-Smith

SITE SEARCH

It restricts search results to the specific site, e.g. course site:iwith.org will give you the results of searching for the word ‘course’ only on Iwith.org websites.

FILE TYPES

It enables you to search for an exact file type (e.g. pdf, doc, ppt, xls, mp3, avi). Enter fair trade filetype:ppt to find a Power Point presentation about fair trade.

SYNONYMS

You don’t have to search for the synonyms of some word end enter it to searching engine one by one. Enter ~help to find the results of searching the word ‘help’ and its synonyms.

DEFINITIONS

To find a definition for a word or phrase just type ‘define’, then a colon and the word(s) you want to define, e.g. define: URL will show you the list of pages that contains the definition for a phrase 'URL'.

WHO LINKS TO YOU?

Google allows you to check which websites point to your or any other domain. Enter link:iwith.org to see all the web pages that have put the link to Iwith.org homepage.
